Well ok I lied just a little bit.
These are OUR profiles. So you get to know just a morsel (or the whole cookie, depending on how much you read…) of who we are and what we are passionate about.
cheers.
DeYandre Thaxton My senior year at Umass I filled the Executive Director position for my student group the University Programming Council. We plan fun events on campus including Spring Concert!! I would like to go into event planning. My favorite aspect of planning events is bringing diverse groups of people together for a common interest. Event planning is no easy task but it is a rewarding experience. I’m looking forward to graduating & entering a new aspect of my life!

This lady here, me, has an intense passion for studying Communication and English at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I’m a native of the North shore of Long Island, NY.
I try to read, write, and eat poetry however and wherever I can. I host a radio show at the University’s student run radio station, WMUA 91.1 FM, entitled “Shahrazad in Amherst” where I try my best to adapt a diverse range of tales about the UMass and Amherst community.
This project is a culmination of a lot of areas of personal and scholarly study. I am publishing my findings on the Internet, not as a way to draw attention to myself, but in the hopes that I can share inspirational resources for actualizing constructive communication practices in a humble fashion.
I believe in the power of communication

As a soon to be graduate (AHHH with no job…) I have a double degree in both Communications and Spanish. I love to write, which you might get a feel for in my posts here and in my personal blog —> CLICK HERE (:
I really firmly believe in knowledge and understanding, both being the most powerful and valuable things that a person can posses.
I love intellectual conversations, speaking Spanish, being a Buddhist and traveling around the world (my picture is from me in Spain at the Casa de Pilatos!).
Well. I am not great about the whole bio thing as I feel it probably bores a lot of people…so I will say that I appreciate your sincere consideration of our blog and work as it is a collaboration based on the true desire to educate and inform YOU the people.
Get
Up
And
Move
The only way to make a difference is to start being one.
Cheers (:
Ahhh I almost forgot. I am also a photographer, so if you are bored and indeed like what you see, feel free to check this out or this. ha.
Katherine Person
Heyyy
So I’m Katherine, and I’m from the small town of Templeton, in North Central Mass and currently I’m a junior at UMass Amherst. I have one more year here before I go out and change the world! Or at least I hope to. I am double majoring in Public Health and Communication. I want to work for a non-profit after college and eventually go to grad school, for either Community Health Education, Health Policy, or Health Communications… In what little free time I have I do a lot of volunteer work and I’m also on the UMass Ballroom Dance Team. As important as school is for me, I’d have to say that what I like doing best is hanging out with my friends. I have met some amazing people since coming to UMass, people I hope to keep in touch with for the rest of my life.
Creating this blog has been a really great experience for me. I think that blogging is a great way to collectively communicate what is important to you, and to network. Change is coming. I can feel it. It’s only a matter of time before the Millenials take over the world. I can’t wait to see what type of positive change we bring to the world.
And for Lauren and DeYandre, I wish you guys the best after graduation.
